Facebook 3.0.1 for IPhone

After using Facebook 3.0 for several days, I noticed the following bugs:

1. Incorrect time stamp in my inbox messages

2. Everyone can now see my recent status updates, even though I had set-up my privacy settings, which only allows friends for particular friend lists who are able to see these updates

3. When I updated my status from IPhone, my friends cannot comment on these status if they are using FB on their mobile device.

According to Joe Hewitt, the creator of this application, some of the issues are as follows:

  • During chat messaging iPhone doesn’t vibrate
  • Contacts loading problem from Friend list
  • Scrolling in Friend List, cause the app crash
  • Can not play videos
  • Time stamp related bugs
  • Birthday related issues

And thanks to Apple, Facebook 3.0.1 for IPhone is now available at the Apple Store. Unfortunately, it does not fix all the bugs identified above and Joe is currently working on Facebook version 3.0.2 which hopefully will fix all the leftover bugs and add the push notification features.

Facebook for IPhone v3.0

Finally, FB for Iphone v3.0 is now available on the Apple Store. Apple did a good job, approving it within the two-weeks frame. I guess because there are lots of people who are eagerly waiting for this new update, then Apple pushed it harder to get it reviewed & approved it in such a short time period [yes, people may say that two weeks is a long time, but I prefer to download an application that has been reviewed carefully to prevent major bugs / crashes].

I’ve seen the photos  & videos of the current update at the FB for Iphone fans page, so I wasn’t surprised at the change of the home page as well as the other new features that are now available on the new version. After only using the new version for an hour, here are my reviews (will add more review later next week):

BAD:

1. Slow – it loads very very slow… On the previous version, when I click ‘facebook’ icon, it would load up the news feed in less than 1 second. Now, it hangs and then loads it within 10 seconds. Not very happy… And when I first installed it, it actually opened up the home screen [pic below]. Honestly, I don’t like it – I prefer to go straight to the newsfeed to see my friends’ status updates.

2. My friends’ status – okay, I only want to see the status updates from my friends’ particular list. And I was able to do that on the previous version; but not on this new version. Not happy.

GOOD:

1. Landscape feature – one thing I loveee about the new version is the ability to see it landscape.

2. Newsfeed – the newsfeed is much cleaner and look so much like FB on the computer. Two thumbs up.

3. Photo tagging – is much easier…
